"Ally"

 Robin's Magical Ring

It is said that the Aussies live up to the names we give them.

In that truth, I wonder though, if it is they themselves that tell us their name.

"Magical" Ally:

A more precise definition will not be found for her.

Marlin Gunner Ally and Mandy

People often came to us, drawn to our dogs by photos of our Mandy.

Like myself, too many years ago, people initially zested for a blue merle girl with 2 blue eyes and all the white trim,

 just like Mandy.

And then they met Ally. Every time, they would leave after their visit, wanting Ally.

She had that magic about her that compelled everyone and solidly changed their view.

Ally's lived her entire life in peak and perfect health. Only in the past year did she begin to even show any age.

Even in that coming evidence into her 12th year,

she showed only a greying, some diminishment to her sight and the kids insisted, her hearing too.

I argued that Ally always had 'diminished', selective hearing! to the point her name was Ally Ally Ally on many occasions.

She had acquired that tripled name along with that attribute at about 8 months of age.

This was never a frustration for us- nor Ally - it was just a part of Ally whose attitude was of patience; calm, endless patience.

She seemed to have been born with insight of "all good things come to those who wait" as well as "patience is a virtue".

Certainly those two qualities were inborn and shared by both her and her brother Gunner.

h

h

Ally exhibited her position of patience with confidence and very early on.

Regardless of the number of people, kids, puppies and dogs begging and pushing for attention, food or treats,

Ally would always wait quietly, unmoving at the far end of the rucous and excited competition.

She would sit a statue or lay like a sphinx, waiting, her eyes watching and never waivering.

She could and would do this at enduring lengths, fully knowing that all good things do come to those who wait. S

he established this role well, so well that people, like our selves, would take pity on "Poor Ally" who was so "left out"

and thus lavish the greater attentions and treats upon her.

Even with the competition of visitors, Ally maintained her stoic, trusting position

Ally's ability to mesmerise could never be ignored, and will not ever be forgotten.

Ally would do 'squinty eyes', gently closely her eyes part way, drawing you into her soul as she walked through yours.

It was so nice for Ally that her age in years did not compromise her tremendous physical structure.

She took as much pleasure in gaiting around the yard, running after Rider after the chipmunks and

keeping charge of the yard with the same ease as if she was just 2 years old.

We took much pleasure in watching her gaiting around the yard:

her clean, effortless ground covering stride remained unchanged throughout her many years.

She continued to delight in barking the arrival of company leaving me in the same greeting to all company:

"That's Ally!, some things never change."

In that, we are grateful for who Ally was and is and that she never did change

from that little Magical Pup that was born into our family.

Ally and Gunner were part of our family in ways unexplainable.

Simply put, we were blessed they came to us.

When Gunner passed away, Ally was the one who kept me going,

compelling me through such loss one can never imagine they will encounter.

Ally's strength in and to our family led to the phrase that if Ally ever left, the house would fall down

h

Ally is our foundation in so many ways and remains the foundation to many of our aussies that descend from her.

Ally loved nurturing and adored having her own puppies.

She was equally delighted when other moms had pups...

Ally always gradually inching her way into the whelping area

until we realised she was nearly in the box as the pups were being born.

Ally in her famous 'frog position'

watching over Demi's puppies (Jenna, Rider Dundee) while Demi was taking a break...

Ally would have helped if she could...or we if we let her would be the greater truth.

h

Ally still there for Jenna, 7 years later.

h

It was Ally's instinct to care for the pups, nurse them if she could inch her way in, clean them and later on,

teach them good manners.

Ally was ideally tolerant of the youngsters as they became mobile and grew away from their own mom,

or the mom decided it was time for them to grow away.

She also new the exact pressure and cue to exert to a puppy really pushing its puppy-limits.

Ally loved her role as mother, grandmother and aunt. She taught them fairly, lovingly and very well.

Our trust in her was complete, as was hers, in us.

And Little Dude aka Robins Magical Dude...

Little Dude!

A clear example of Ally's own determination to have just one more puppy to fulfill her life passion of nurturing.

I had told her she was retired from breeding. Ally quietly decided, not quite yet Mom! (she did have a mind of her own):

Surprise! as there was a Little Dude!

h

And No Surprise! Little Dude's story didn't stop there:

it was just the beginning of how this Little Magical Dude became The King of All Hearts.

Ally has grand children through Niomi, Polo, Joy, Cruise and Suzy...and you can see and sense Ally, in all of them.
