Ally also insured life to a newborn Field Spaniel 'singleton' puppy whose mother rejected him.

In 2002, Ally had whelped a litter of five lovely puppies.

Through a tragic error at the vet clinic during tail docking, only one puppy survived:

 "Neo"

 Robins The Magical One.

Ten days later, Ramsey was born at Winfarthing Kennel, the first Field Spaniel to be born in Canada.

While one never wishes to loose any puppy and how we knew too well and too recently that truth,

this puppy carried an extra responsibility and high profile because of this.

Ally adopted Ramsey at three days of age and raised him as her own alongside her Neo.

The story of Ramsey is a brilliant, touching story of its own of several dimensions

In brief but still in its powerful tale, from the devastating loss of her own puppies,

Ally gave life to this new born puppy who would have lost his life without her

 welcoming him into her care.

This endearing and lifesaving event brought the Field Spaniel breeders into special respect of the Aussie; this aussie, Ally.

We came to know and appreciate the Field Spaniel and realise the many similarities in nature of the two breeds.

As a newborn, Ramsey could have been assumed to be a 'red tri' aussie given similar colour, size and proportions at that age.

However as the weeks went by, his ears grew. and grew. and grew! setting an obvious difference

while also bringing a sense of amusement to this singular vast difference.

"Look at his ears Mom!"

I include two links to Ally's photo pages on my web site.

Ally though, can be found just beyond the borders of nearly almost every photo throughout the site.

Ally has always been, "always there".

Every time we took photos, we would chuckle as Ally would some how always be somewhere in each and every photo.

It was like the "Where's Waldo?" books.

Seeing Ally like that in each photo became a sense of predictable amusement and the norm.

As years went by, if some photo did not exhibit some portion of Ally,

that is when we would notice and wonder why Ally wasn't in the photo.

Ally's 'always being there' is another truth about Ally. Whenever I turned to step to do any thing...

Ally was always 'in the way'.

Ally's favourite frog-position

Common household phrases were ; "Ally's in the way" and "Ally, move out of the way"....

But it just was her way and I have often said that if I wanted to know which way I was about to be heading,

look to Ally as she already knew that way.

She was consistent and constant, without fail, leading our way just one very close step ahead of us.

Ally had expressions for every situation

(and she was in each situation whether she truly wished to be or not,

simply that she felt she must be by her own determination).

While she never over-stated anything, her 'look' left nothing to the imagination...

and always made you look.

Last night we said goodbye to Ally.

Her suffering was short. Her need to go was clear and without question.

She left in company of her family and extended family who had known her since birth.

I know this was important to her that we were all with her

and it was somewhat Magical that we just all happened to all be close by when the time came.

Shortly after we laid Ally to rest at outside our home,

the coyotes began to howl and screech like I have not heard before.

The times we have heard them over the years has always been in the distant fields calling from one pack to another.

All those years I wondered why our dogs never responded in any way to the sounds and presence of the coyotes.

Last night, I was drawn to hear the coyotes as the dogs had begun an alert barking in a different way.

I only then heard the howls and called to my sons to come and listen.

Cody and Marlin bolted out the front door, Cody determined to get an audio recording of the coyotes' calls.

They both returned to the house immediately as they discovered the coyotes were just across our road from the end of our driveway.

They said the pack number would have totaled about 30 coyotes.

It almost seems like all the packs had gathered together at our home, perhaps for a Magical reason.

It was certainly a unique and unusual occurrence.

We are ever so grateful to Sue and Dave, Brightwood and Lorna and Ed, Sugarbush

for having 'saved' Beau, Ch Briarbrooks Center Ring- Ally and Gunner's sire.

The foresight to preserve this dog (frozen semen) as well as the trust in us to allow us to use Beau was

a Gift of Life and a Gift of a Lifetime.

Ally and Gunner are matched by no others.

They will remain a part of us, Always.

I share this photo from our Aussie Reunion of September 2008.

Ally enjoyed that day so very much. It was as if she knew her own contribution to the wonderful dogs and the great families

who had been enriched by that way she shared, and then brought us all together.

Magical Ally:

In her lifetime she had reached and touched people all over the world.

She is still reaching her friends as we receive countless contacts of compassion and fondnesses for Ally, from near and far.

Ally was Loved by so many...and was Treasured by us:

We were so blessed to have had her daily in our lives.

Nature's first green is gold

Her hardest hue to hold

Her early leaf's a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay.
